Tips to Holiday Detoxification

According to Calorie Control Council an average American on Thanksgiving will consume 4,500 calories during a meal and 229 grams of fat from snacking and eating a traditional holiday dinner with turkey and all the trimmings.

The biggest thing to remember is to not be too hard on yourself, and slowly ease your way back into your normal eating routine.  Remember that crash dieting will not help you get back on track; it will only hurt you down the road when you start introducing foods again, and can actually cause more weight gain.

One tip to jump start your holiday detoxification process is to replace all beverages with water.  Adding fresh lemon to the water will not only add a little flavor, but lemon also assists in detoxifying by aiding in the digestion process.
While on the go, find a reusable container that you can refill throughout the day and add a lemon wedge every time you refill the bottle.  If the idea of switching from bottled water to tap water or water from the water fountain has you worried, look into alternative options for your home and workplace.

In the workplace, look to replace the old bottled water cooler which a bottleless water cooler such as the ION Water Cooler.  Nothing is more frustrating than needed a drink of water only to find that nobody has replaced the bottle on the cooler. By going bottleless you are saving time and money by getting rid of bottled water delivery, and you are also getting a glass of freshly filtered water.

If your water at home isn’t up to your standards, look to get an under the sink filtration system.  These systems come with a filter that will remove Chlorine, Taste, and Odor from your water supply.
Losing those extra holiday pounds won’t be easy, but taking the necessary steps to detoxify your body can be easy.  Drink lots of water every day to start flushing out your system, your body will thank you.
